Tutoring at Southside High School (and at Elmira Free Academy) occurs through the Upward Bound Program at Cornell University. The primary goal of Upward Bound is to increase college attendance among students who are statistically expected to never attend college. As a REACH tutor, you will provide instrumental academic and emotional support to our students. This year, our game plan for increasing college readiness has three main components: homework help, SAT preparation, and studying for the Regents.

On a personal note, I’ve worked with these students for quite a while now, and I can’t say enough about them. My time with Upward Bound has impacted me more than anything else at Cornell. For all of you future tutors reading this- I can’t wait to watch our students work their magic on you too.
